Road Race Set Up?
I think lag and boost response are being confused here. If you're looking for a ROAD RACE setup, and not an AUTOCROSS setup, then you only really need a turbo with good boost response. (i.e. in the upper rev ranges, the car builds boost quickly). For an autocross setup, you'll be letting the revs drop a lot lower through the corners, so you'll want a turbo with minimum lag, that builds boost quickly from very slow speeds.
That said, for autocross, I think the RX-6 would be a great turbo. Though it lacks the top end of some of the others, from what I've heard, it builds boost incredibly quickly.
For a road race setup, just keep the compressor sized so it stays in its higher efficiency ranges, and the hot side A/R within reason. BB turbos always help in response, just make sure you get a good one. I've heard that turbonetics' single ball bearing center section turbos tend to fail, but the dual BB ones are more reliable...
good luck!

the rx6 is ball bearing if you were wondering. mine has good power down low and pretty nice pickup in the higher rpms as well. i make full boost "13psi" at about 3000rpms. by no means is it a drag turbo. but it is alot better then the twins.

Boost Response determines the speed from where to where? (rpm range/turbo speed range/boost level)
Thanks! Does HKS, etc make their own turbos or do they buy from manufacturers?
