Can the gt35/40r make 500whp on a fd??? Thats my question here
Forget 450whp, have you driven a 400whp FD on the street? try to put it in perspective, it's roughly the same (give or take one or two) as a GTS coupe or a ZO6, except you are 600lbs lighter than the GTS or 300lbs lighter than the ZO6, traction becomes a issue once boost hits. Not only are you so much lighter but you more than likely don't have near the same rubber in back they do. There is no real need for more than this on the street other than saying you have it. Ask YOURSELF where 90% of your driving is going to REALLY be not where others tell you it should be, if it is nothing more than stop light to stop light a 35R is hard to beat. Spools great, hits hard, and is a blast. If your afraid of running into modded GTS's and ZO6's, or a well modded SUPRA, high way runs, or at the strip every other weekend you may want a little more, (GT40R) either way you will be grinning for quite awhile and scaring the crap out of your friends if you don't wrap it around a tree.

I'm very pleased with my GT35/40: excellent power, power when you need it, no need to downshift as often, smooth power delivery, what more can I say?

Downsides?: car is much louder (getting resonated midpipe from RX7Store), filling the tank more often (worried about summer's gas prices).

Likes: hitting 170mph at will, driving at 95mph thinking it's 70mph, the look on cop's face when I take them fo a spin, no more psychiatrist's bills ( & no Prozac)

Any info on the GT35R (not 35/40 & not 40R)? Oh btw, Tial makes a nickel (like inconel) wastegate made to handle extreme rotary exhaust heat.

^ I thought the GT-35/40 is a combination of the 35R & 40R ...hence, the 35/40?

Is it really THAT beneficial to pay for a BB turbo for a rotary? I mean, if you size the turbine side right, shouldn't all that high-energy, high-temp rotary exhaust gas do the job just fine? This may be off topic, but it might factor in to his decision, I don't know...

Good point!! So how would the gt40 plain bearing stand up against the gt40r...would it out weigh the hundred of dollars for the gt40r? got me think now where to a pile of cash with just buying a gt40 instead of the gt40R.
