Guys, I've pretty much come to the conclusion that it's time for me to go to single. I am parting with my jspec twins in the search for more HP . I am looking for around 500whp and still stay streetable. I don't need alot of lag but I do expect to get some. I am currently doing a bridge port to my rew block. What I would like to know is what are you opinions on the garret gt series turbo. I am really looking at the garrett gt35/40r turbo, but don't know if that would be just over kill for me. Does anyone have any experience with this turbo and/or think there is a better street turbo that can gain that much hp for a comparison in price. the GT35/40r goes for around $1400.00 us.Also, what size injectors would you all go to and what fuel pumps. I did some research already, but it's the experience from actual use that I'm really looking for. Thanks alot guys. hope to hear some good post and no off topic discussions .lol

Are we talking about the Gt35/40 or the Gt40R here? The gt35/40 probably isn't going to have enough top end to get you to 500rwhp for the street. Its more of a 425rwhp turbo from the dyno sheets i've seen. The GT40R however, is comparable to a Greddy t-78 with a spool somewhere between a t-78 and gt35/40. A better choice for a goal of 500rwhp. Keep in mind 15psi on pump isn't going to cut 500rwhp with a street port. You'll need to run a maximum of 18psi or 20spi with water injection to keep things safe. You'll need 850/1600 injectors to keep the duty cycle down with that amount of fuel demand for 500rwhp.

mmm , So what exatly is the difference between the Garrett GT40r and the greddy t78. Which one is a better turbo? Are there any other turbos that I can consider for this application? I really running away from the enormous lag that massive turbos give . Also, I have the greddy 2row FmI, am I going to need to change that to the 3 row? Can this handle the flow from this turbo for 1/4 mile action?

People worry way too much about lag. Even a T-78 while laggy compared to these other turbo kits for the FD, still isn't anything to worry about. The GT04r is ball bearings, so its spools a little faster. A greddy t-88 would be overkill and laggy. Either way, you'll have a hell of a powerband from 4k to at least 8k rpms.

The 2 row should be fine.

So I should be fine then with the Garrett gt40r then. Do you know any cars that are running this turbo? Also do you know any place that would have this turbo for a good price? What kinda times you think a 500hp FD with street suspension should be capable of in the 1/4(driving it properly ofcourse ).

Thanks alot 94 touring....anyone else have any comments??

are you really ever going to the 500RWHP on the street? 400RWHP already is breaking loose everywhere, 500RWHP is just god damn undrivable LOL.

If you're saying that you'd use the hp up top, than lag isn't a concern, because you have these things called gears, and there is this thing called down-shifting.

I'm not trying to be a dick, its just that lately all I see is always, how do i get the hp queen and have it all come on at the same time as my old stock twins.

If you really want to use it down at the bottom, just get nitrous and a large turbo, and have the nitrous spool it. not that you'll actually use the power, but i guess you'll have it on the dyno!

I don't know anyone personally, but if you search the dyno sheets over on the other forum, you'll find a few guys. Not sure where the best place to get it would be. Umm, lets see perfect driver and conditions with 365rwhp can hit damn close if not into the 11's.
