if you get an egt also the best place for it is in the manifold before the turbo. alot of people will tell you that you risk breaking off the sender and junking your turbo, and while this is true, an egt after the turbo really doesn't tell you what your engine is doing.

I have an EGT gauge and the sensor is right in the top of my dp.....it's an ok measurement of rich or lean, but not nearly accurate or fast enough as a wideband would be. Demetrios used a Motec wideband on mine and its as accurate as your gonna get. Im going to get one this year and mount it on my dash for when I race.

I looked at the Motec before I bought my FJO. The Motec is a great unit... but it doesn't have datalogging (unless you have the Motec mega$$ full display which is a few grand) which the FJO does. It makes tuning much easier instead of trying to drive AND watch the A/Fs.



Once you have a wideband in your car you'll wonder how you (and your engine) lasted so long without it.

FJO is the best $$$ i've spent so far... i still need tuning but i know its safely rich right now. unlike before. if you don't have a wideband and your tuning. way too lean and way too rich. do the exact same thing. now you can see why people pop engines.......... without a real WB02

Or go to the real source, www.diy-wb.com. These guys developed the design used by TechEdge... and are not making $$ out of the deal. You can assemble one yourself for around $250.

The new techedge kit uses the Bosch sensor which is not scarce like the NTK sensor has become. The sensor for this kit is 100 bones. Cheaper than the NTK sensor in its hayday.



IMO a wideband is a much better tool than an EGT. Have you seen V2.0 from techedge? We are talking A/F logging, RPM logging, temp logging? How does that compare to the EGTs peak hold?



Check out the specs. If you can build the DIY kit you will be miles a head. I had hardly no electroics experience but I was able to build a v1.0 with no major problems. It was a thrill to be able to build the unit/display.

When you have your own WB and the capability to log, you are never done tuning... Almost everytime I go out, I hook the laptop up and log. I rarely watch the log while driving unless I've changed something and am really tuning, usually I just log, then review the data later just for tweaking, etc..
