That **** looks hot, especially the uim/lim. I like the blackness, it's not the usual BLING BLING going on.



Question though: How efficient is that intercooler? Would you be going FMIC later on? Unless you have it ducted straight to it.

Thanks! efficient IC...hmmm, I'm sure it's the bottleneck in my set-up. FMIC? no, I don't like the looks of them...I wanted a sleeper with everything under the hood. The IC would work better if the fans weren't blowing directly on it. I do have a sprayer and water injection to help with cooling. I might try a VMIC someday...but as you can see, I have and air pump I have to fit under there too.



GAWD do I need something to cover that rustyass turbine housing!!!!

Good to see more people DIY with fds , im a self employed fabricator i did all the work on my car. Rebuilt the engine, fabricated stainless steel exhaust system including manifold, and wastegate 50mm used 62-1 turbonetics turbo, apexi intercooler, trust bov apexi pfc which i tuned. Use a cusco twinplate clutch, hotwire earthed ht leads, ngk R6725-105 plugs. I also did the plumbing all the brackets, the carbon heat sheilds etc etc no one works on my car but me.

Making up carbon stuff not that hard. I went to a fibreglass supplier and got one square meter of woven carbon mat and a small container of epoxy resin.

I masked up all around the area i was going to work in. I packed all around the area i wanted to carbon up with hard foam then covered with many layers of plastic wrap trying to keep area as smooth as possible. I made sure to do this to a larger area than i was going to cover with resin and dished the lowest areas so it would pool at the lowest point and not spill over on to any thing. It is important to make the plastic as firm as possible so it wont change shape when resin is applied. If sheild is to be fastened make sure this is included in mold.

Once the area is masked and molded area is made and taped secure lay woven mat over the mold and mark out the shape to cut it to. Make sure to allow extra say 1" to 2" all the way around , to be trimed off once resin has hardened.

Depending on how heavy woven mat is cut out 2-4 of these shapes.

Use masking tape to hold the first mat in place (around the edges)

mix up a small cup of resin. Use a 1" paint brush and cover mat with resin, try not to put to much pressure on mat so weave is not seperated. Once covered well carefully place the next mat over the first, the resin should hold the mat in place. Cover with resin then mat then resin. Cover the last last mat with resin. You can roll out any air bubbles if you purchase a fibreglass roller but usually not needed.

Now just leave it for resin to harden up. Once its cured take out , peel the plastic off the back, and trim it up to the shape you want.
