I have my Turbo XS MBC installed on the stock turbo, I havent ported the waste gate and I have it set so I can hit about 12lbs at peak in 3rd and 4th. I hit about 12 and then the gauge backs down and holds at 10, is this just a spike or creep and is it anything worth worrying about, I want the car to run 12 lbs and hold but I dont want to creep to 14 to get there. Should I port the stock wastegate? Seems to be more trouble then its worth since im not over boosting like 5-8lbs over where i want to be.

manual boost contollors do tend to have a little "spike" to them, is your controllor the type with a spring and ball bearing??

 

Is the one im using, its ball and spring, I dont know if it has the bleed hole to prevent wastegate lock up, I believe it does have a bleed hole....somewhere.

 

i ran that boost controler for a while, had the same problem,,,,, cept mine was the damn thing wouldnt alow me to boost under 19psi and would spike to 25psi then back down to 19psi . the only time it would spike was in first gear then it was ok after that.

 

yup what your having is spike..my friend had that in his 20g talon..he would get some spike too..after a while it turned to "creep" his 18psi setting he'd hit 21psi..needless to say the thing is no longer in his car.
