You don't even have to go with something HUGE. My t-62-1 is big enough to easily make 400+rwhp.
lol...EASILY 400 rwhp...

Igy just tuned a t04S at 1.05 kilos boost to 467 rwhp!...imagine what the 62-1 could do

Haha, well maybe I was underestimating a little bit. I know when I made my first few pulls at 18psi on the t-62 I almost **** my pants. 15psi is a nice easy ride relativily speaking, 18psi is sliding all over the road. And surpisingly its not as laggy as I thought it would be. Makes great low end power and awsome top end power. To me its a great setup for the street. The gt35/40 would be better for the 15-18psi pump gas range, but of course is pricey.

yeah, mine made full boost by 4000 rpms(1 kilo or 14 psi~) It had good low end power and pulled REAL nice top end.

Looks like I need a turbo pic archive on my website.

Gather your pix everyone.

not that this matters much, but i have the older brother to the t04r the hks t45s its about the same specs of the t04r but its a q trim instead of a p trim exhaust wheel.

running a .90 exhaust housing probably helps with the spool up. but I can get 8~9 psi almost instant in 4th gear around 3500 rpm. still running off the wastegate spring for now the car did spool about 30psi by 4k rpm when the wastegate was messed up -_- lucky for me the motor took that brief mishap and is still alive today. On 8 psi, my car seems to be equall to others making arond 320 rwph not bad for that boost level.. from seeing other cars local with a 35/40 they are nice, but from my turbo i bet a to4r with a p trim would be even better. I have never been a big fan of the T3 exhaust side of the 35/40 but they can still make a lot of power. I think it all depends on what you want to do with your car. so far i have been really happy with driving my car on the street for the past year, as well as runinning in autox and some drag racing.

Pete,

Are you getting FULL boost by 3800rpm and if so, in what gear/speed? I have the same setup you do and I get FULL boost about 1200rpm later. Now, I can step on the gas at 2K rpm in third and get positive manifold pressure (2psi or so) but it takes much longer than that to get to full boost with my turbo. After I installed the new engine, I seem to be getting 2psi LESS on spring pressure than I did before, ie. I shouldn't be running less than .75kg on wastegate spring alone, but I can run 5.5kg/cm2. Not sure what's causing this (checked for leaks) however. I never get more than .75 in first or second with the boost controller set at .85kg/cm2. I do seem to get power with those lower boost numbers regardless. Untuned, I pulled on a Supra with mild upgrades on the highway in 4th (when I mean untuned, lowered peak timing numbers and a/f in the 10's).

While this turbo pulls all the way to 8500 (and past it) I'm really considering something else that's a bit easier stoplight to stoplight. From about 4500 to 8500, this turbo is amazing but below that, it's sort of a dog in comparison to it's top end. Feels as strong as a mildly tuned T04S at lower rpm (different car, street port). And just an FYI for people who don't know about the upgraded T78's, Majestic Turbo in Waco, TX does an upgrade where they mate what is referred to as a Garrett GT79 compressor to the stock turbine. They can even fix damaged turbines. The exducer is about 89mm in size. Not sure what the inducer is although they do have to machine out the scroll housing to fit this wheel. It's big. Bigger than a T88. If I could figure out which Garrett wheel this actually is and find the appropriate all-Garrett GT series turbo with full BB cartridge, this would be one HOT turbo. I'm thinking it's a GT42 or something around there.

It's not a GT42. Smallest wheel for GT42 is 94mm.

Largest wheel for GT40 is 88mm.

I believe I measured it at 89 mm...maybe I was off a MM, making it a GT40 compressor wheel. Now it's my understanding they don't make a turbine side that'll work with a rotary setup? Is that the case as far as you know Tyson? They did say it was a genuine Garrett GT wheel.
