The 35/40 is rebuildable, but there is a catch. You have to buy a new cartridge. Cost is around $900 US.

Oh, and Mitch dynoed within like 3 or 4 hp of me with his to4r. I think HKS uses a back cut version with a .8 something a/r though.

But a standard shaft turbonetics turbo rebuild kit cost in the neighborhood of $100~ and a big shaft rebuild kit cost less than $200. Big difference...

What do the rebuild kits include? seals and bearings? We usually can't get the turbos to last long enough to wear out anyway cause the motors like to pop and send apex seals through them.

seals, bearing, thrust bearing/collar from what I remember off hand. Blown motors makes another good point. Why pay for the more expensive turbo if your going to ruin it by sending apex seals thru it? Deal with the 500 rpm "lag" and save your self $500+

i've emailed sean over at aspec tuning and he said they are coming out with a differnt kit for the gt3540 real soon, its supposed to flow better then the previous kit, with a different manifold and a smoother downpipe i guess, wont come out for a couple weeks he said tho.

You don't even have to go with something HUGE. My t-62-1 is big enough to easily make 400+rwhp. Its a hell of a lot stronger than the apexi kit, and I only lost about 200rpms spool time. And its cheap to rebuild. The apexi kit spools almost identical to the gt35/40.
