it's what some people believe is the future of turbochargers. Corky Bell is pretty fond of this concent, it's just that it's still expensive usually and needs more development.

hate to tell you this, but variable vanes have been around for a long ass time. Mostly used in complex aircraft systems testing and even in compressor blades. As the turbo spool up the airfoils that generate force start to stall like an aircraft wing. The vanes change there angles can reduce disrubted airflow through out the rpm range.

ford is usuing turbos like that on the new dohc 32 valve powerstroke diesel it keep the boost pressure constant trought the rpm range
