my suspension on my 1st gen's kind of.. well.. sucks.

so can anyone give me sites and/or links or any suggestions on how to.. well..

change it. lol. good parts i can buy for great prices.

and uh. i guess that's it. i'm a bit new at this. yes. i'm a "newbie". bleh. but yea.

for a street car its hard to go wrong with tokiko blue shocks on the stock springs, and remove the rear sway bar.

 

remove rear sway bar? any advantages/disadvantages?

 

advantage, less understeer i believe, dunno

 

it becomes way easier to drive the car, less binding in the rear suspension.

 

here is what i did w/my 84 gsl-se



tokico blues front & rear

poly bushings front & rear



that worked fine for a while then noticed stock springs really starting to sag so..



eibach pro-kit springs front & rear, these are great. but, if you have tires larger than 195 they will rub up front.



got turned onto ground control coil-over setup for the front. WOW. no rub, but quite a bit stiffer up front.

kinda tail happy, probably because of poly bushings in rear, but fun to drive.

I concur and confirm. I did pretty much the same thing..

Eiback springs, and they rubbed the stock tires, so got new wheels/tires.

Tokico shocks front and rear.

All new bushings, front and rear, including Watt Link, sway bars, control arms.

New ball joints. You CAN replace them, really easy, don't need a whole new control arm. About 25 bucks a wheel.

Cross drilled/slotted rotors.



Mazdatrix.com is a good place to start for all this stuff. The Eibach kit can be had almost anywhere, even Sears! I think I got the shocks and bushings from Mazdatrix. Some online autoparts place for the ball joints.

Anyway, all this stuff, added up, makes for a very nice handling car, and a lot more fun to drive.
