you could cut the bell housing of a fc tranny then weld it in the proper place of the new cars tranny. that is if the spline lined up and then use all the fc stuff starter and what not.

No, not for the starter





Not if now you have a huge spacer installed to compensate for the length of the input shaft

 

Ahhh. The adapter plate thingy is just a ring, a bit like a bellhousing extension.

Yeah.. And the starter, considering it's still bolted in the stock bellhousing hole, just wont have the length to hit the gear, it'll miss by exactly the width of the adapter.. So you'd have to install the adapter and shift the mounting for the starter forward to hit the gear... Or SOMETHING! lol







I think this thing is cool **** because theres so much more to it than just dropping it in! I really want to know how they handled such issues..

 

I've never seen a starter that wasn't on the engine side, but I'm assuming that from what you're saying this is not the case with a rotary - in which case you could have a problem.
