Ok so once again im back with ignition questions:

I have:

Wolf 3d V4

4 MSD Blaster SS Coils.

I'm leaning towards going for 3 MSD 6a's, however im still considering the AEM C2DI unit.

Now i'm just trying to figure out, if i run the MSD's i'll have to use ignitors as well? How many would i need and would this still make for a strong ignition system since id probably have to use an FD ignitor or something?

If i use the AEM C2DI, would i need an ignitor as well?

I was really hoping to be able to run it "Wolf->MSD's->coils" Nevermind the fact that id have no idea how to wire up 3 MSD's to the ignitors and four sperate coils.

please help,

kevin.

89TII

stock ignitor

Stock ecu w/ apexi safc wired to pressure sensor + paul stoakes FCD

Stock trailing coils and igniters

Two Crane Hi-6, Two Crane lx92 coils for leading using stock ignitor.

Need to find some wires, anyone have any suggestions, those crane 8 mm wires are pretty good price, especially V8 ones, I could make two sets with their universal one.

The best ignition setup for your RX7 would be an MSD Digital 6 plus ignition for your leading coils, and an MSD DIS-2 ignition for your trailing coils. I always recommend getting four new coils such as the blaster SS coils- but you already have them. If you need any of these items, they are all available at my website-

DeWitt Racing. Thanks-

I am in the market for an ignition also. Has anyone checked out the jacobs ignition. I think it is on rx7.com and it says it is designed for the rotary. I was planning on getting one when I finally get enough money to get my fc rolling.

Unfortunatley we had a very in depth thread on here which I started with my MSDD-6. 83TURBO was currently load/application testing the AEM ( which kept burning up drivers), MSD ingitions(6A/AL,7AL), the problems different coils would give drivers. He gives actual performance numbers and losses in which many of us asked. It got lost. I will say this I sold my Dis 6. Go to the basic MSD with Blaster coils but you will need no less than three ingitors. Myself I have a little more than that.Jacobs... he tested & it didnt do what they claim and didnt feel it worth the money but its up to each of you to decide.Sorry we lost all the data.

you dont need a distributor (although you could) the cas sends a signal to the ecu which fires the ignitors which fire the coils.

when you add the msd's i think you either get rid of the ignitor or its goes between the ignitor and the coil.

yea ok i thought you were suggesting i run a distributor, lol.

yea ive finally figured out that to run the msd's i need to run some ignitors as well.

everyone says run fd ignitors so i figure ill be running 3 fd ignitors to 3 msd 6a's, to 4 msd blaster ss coils, try to find some short spark plug wires and try to setup the whole thing to be relatively near the spark plugs for a nice short distance spark, and then thatll be that. unless i can make my own plug wires somehow lol.

fd ignitor is 3 channel, so you only need one ignitor. try and get the plug for it too, its "weird"
