Ignition Setups

Kevin,
Don't run 3 MSD's...run 4. I'm assuming you will have 1 MSD per trailing and 1 MSD split to two seperate coils for the leadings. That ONE msd for the leadings will be overworked. Split the signal from the ignitor to two MSD's and run 1 MSD to one SS Blaster to one leading plug.

ok so now based on j9's and jspec's advice i have concluded to this setup.
wolf v4
to
1 fd ignitor
to
4 MSD 6a's
to
individual coils per plug
does that sound reasonable?
Oh and j9, on the "other" forum in the wolf discussion forum they actually have a conversion thing for the fd ignitor in case you dont have the plug when you buy it or whatever. and just the break down of how to wire it to the wolf without the plug is pretty confusing.

I use Redline Rotary Ignitor boxes x 2, and Redline Rotary coils X 4. I have never seen spark like what this setup creates anywhere else. Its insane. After using these, i have not used anything else since. I also use a Wolf 3D version 4. and the best part about this, is it is very compact. The ignitor boxes are only about 2 1/2" x 2 1/2 " x 1"

This is an Old pic I found of the Igntion setup on my race car. I don't take many pics. the engine/Turbo setup looks nothing like that now. You can see the Two Ignitor boxes on the firewall. The coils, I'm sure you can see where those are

woe...I may be mistaken..but on a second gen there is the cran-angle.Thats is the same as the FD pickups. The MSDetc... ARE the ignitors. You will tie into the cran angle wiring for signal pickup.By the way this same setup can be used on FB.
Dont piggy back ignitors into the aftermarket boxes.

yea on FC's there is a crank-angle sensor.
this is what ive been trying to figure out through this whole discussion, it seems that you know the answer.
I dont "need" ignitors, the MSD 6A's are the ignitors right?
On my wolf 3d v4 it has 3 ignition outputs, and the crank-angle is one of the inputs. so is it safe to say that it uses the CAS instead of me needing ignitors as well as MSD's?

No one else has said anything about jacobs. Has anyone used one of their ignition setups? I am installing a Haltech and don't want to begin until I have every part I may need. I know MSD's reputation. My friend has a car that runs 9's. He has a MSD. If I bought coils, they would be MSD's. The Jacobs rotary ignition seems that it would be a good choice. Someone has got to know something about it?
