Does anyone know if it makes a difference which way the distributor/CAS/MOP drive gear goes? I noticed the other day that on the 1992 and earlier motors they have a slight bevel on one side and thats the side the that's towards the motor. It looks to me that it wouldn't really matter which way it goes. Are there any ill effects of putting this on incorrectly. Also on the 1993 and up motors that gear which only drives the MOP does not have the bevel. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

i think the only reason the bevel goes toward the engine is for assembly, other than that i dotn think it matters

YES! It makes a difference. It is off by about 10 degrees. You will find out just how much when you try to advance and retard and it runs out of adjustment slot. Bevel towards motor always.

So what about on the 93 13brew when you use a CAS and run off that drive gear does is make a difference because there is no bevel on the 93 drive gear? Should I get a matching drive gear with the CAS that I would be using? The 13brew's drive gear is slightly different from previous years and I was wondering if it makes a difference when you use a CAS. My setup is a 13brew with the early style front cover, engine mounts on front cover, using a S4 CAS from a turbo motor and running Microtech LTX12S.

That I am not too sure of. If I were doing it, I would change to an 86 to 92 drive gear. But that's just me.

Any one with more info prease chime in. I would like to learn about this also.
