Hey guys I'm looking at buying a 2004 Mazda RX8 Grand Touring, 6 speed manual model. The current owner had the engine replaced a bit over a year ago and there's 18,000 on the replacement. He's selling it for 13,000 and I'm really interested in buying it. This would be my first rotary engine but having worked on quite a few cars and being very well versed in driving a car hard lol I feel I could take care of it just fine. What do you guys think? Reliability and low maintenance costs are also points of importance.

I just bought an '04 touring 6MT back in March and had the engine replaced. I've not had any issues outside normal maintenance with the car since replacing the engine, and haven't regretted it. Be proactive in maintenance and you should be fine. Simple answer, but hopefully my opinion helps you make your decision.

be prepared for the fact that it is not a normal car you need to be a lot more careful with it. But if you do take care of it you will be so happy with it. I love mine so much its so much fun its crazy
