I saw a rwd volvo with the turbine next to the diff...all of the piping acted as in intercooler. I bet it was a little laggy.
in geologic terms i'm sure its quite spunky

yeah after looking closely at it. it IS TIGHT! the frame rail sits right next to the motor. on a side note, the motor mounts look promising to be able to slap one in another body fairly easily.

one thing that sparked my intrest is something i have seen able ibara do for years and he told me a long time ago that it was for space (which i believed at the time). anyone ever see how he (on BOTH the r100 and the FD) make the TB face the front of the car and have the *elbo* face the TB that way? do you knwo what i am saying? i dont know if they both know something i am not aware of, or if mazda designed it that way to have the volume of the smaler *plenum* made up by lengthening the runners AND for space???

note: (i have not done any testing to see the difference of volume, just quick observations that the 8's looked smaller overall)

i hope some of that made sence....

Hey, does anyone know which car it was that Mazda made for the Australian market that had axial-flow turbines for the turbochargers? If you find it let me know ASAP please. I figure turbocharger size shouldn't be as big a problem if all of the exhaust-side parts are actually mounted in/along the exhaust pipes. (And yes, such a car existed, sold in the early '90s. I used to have a brochure for it given to me for part of a class, but I've since lost it).

for the strip you want a supercharger, for most everything else a turbo seems like a better deal. and if the ms rx-8 doesnt have a turbo, all im saying is that ms is for girls.

it has to have more hp, they aren't going to put 280 hp in the MPS 6 only to have it beat a 250 hp MSP RX-8.

a company wouldn't do that, that's like chevy putting 400 AWD hp in an impala for $30K only to have it beat a z06 corvette for $50K. that wouldn't happen, and i dont think mazda would let it happen either.

I saw one at the dealer. he told me to come back on sat and i can push it on the closed business streets

He gave me his rumor of a twin turbo setup for the Mazdaspeed one. I should visit Zeil Motorsports and find out if its true sisnce they did the turbo Protoge. I would think a supercharger makes more sense, since it won't need an intercooler with low boost and it will help low end.

Anyhow Panspeed made a turbo RX-8 about a year ago! I beleive it's about 550PS and I posted a link for it on the RX-8 forum, so it can be done.

I just read a ton of threads on the RX-8 Forum. Firstly it is obvious that it is related to the RX7Club there are 3 kinds of people in there. Those who truly know their **** but think their **** doesnt stink. Those who dont know **** but can bullshit well and create an aura of knowing ****. Those who dont know **** and admit it but are being mislead by the bullshitters.

After reading for an hour I have one last thing to say then I will wait until Mazda says something or someone throws down 210RWHP.

I wanted to buy a RX-8 preferably a Mazdaspeed addition. I would never buy the fist cars off the line in fear that they are a mess. I needed a new car so I bought a CooperS (contemplating the JCW kit) to keep for 2 years until hopefully the Mazdaspeed RX-8 is out. As of right now I have no interest in the RX-8 especially in light of all the "problems" people are having with them.

I do believe the RX-8 is pretty quick as it is right now but I think it should be quicker. Its 0-60 times are not very impressive for a 250HP - 2800 lb. car the dodge SRT-4 kills it by half a second 0-60 and by 1.5 seconds in the 1/4. I know the RX-8 corners well but you need some ***** to get to the corners quickly. I know I Autocross and was amazed how much faster my 7 was everywhere after getting another 50 RWHP.

I will compare this car to the RX-7 bacause that is all Madza Corp has been doing since they got some running prototypes on the road. Have you seen all the PR videos of the 8 and the 7 racing on a road course. Mazda is comparing them so I will.

They are supposed to be race inspired sports cars with 4 seats. Have you seen the print ads or the comercials. Thay are not advertising them as grocery getters.

I have my Mini to play with now and suspect I will be keeping it a lot longer than expected. At least I have my 400 HP RX-7 to play with.

Product loyalty is not an excuse to buy a car that is not what it is claimed to be.
