considering it's been like 10 yrs since mazda's last NA rotary and the rise in technological advances and the amount of unknown years that mazda has been researching the renesis, i think it is quite possible to sqeeze 250 hp out of an NA 2 rotor.
again, honda can do it with a 2 liter NA, no reason mazda cant do it with a 2 rotor NA...
where's your loyalty and support for mazda? do you not want to see another new rx-7?

Yes! I would love to see a new RX-7! But if its gonna be a half *** pussied out car then let the RX-7 die with dignity. Like the Type R Bathurst perfect way to end a product line. Please Please Please do not put out a 200 HP weezer and expect us to be wowed by it.
I would like to see Mazda get off its ***, step up, and build a Z-06 or Viper killer I know its possible. They just need to grow the ***** and build it. They could easily drop a cosmo 3 rotor in an RX-7 and they would have an instant supercar.
Or take the technologically advanced godsend we call the Renesis and drop it into the Miata WTF is Mazda waiting for?? People will line up for a factory built 200+ HP Rotary Miata I would!!!
And dont question my loyalty and support I have owned RX-7s since 1987. I live eat and breath RX-7's.

This wouldnt be the first car to be advertised with less HP then it
actually has, people make mistakes.
When people are putting the cars on the dyno and they arent even
hitting 190hp there is a major problem. Someone should try uncorking
the exaust and seeing if it gets any better.

if honda can do it with an s2000 and get 250 hp out of 2L, is it hard to believe that mazda can get 250 hp out of a 1.3 L two stroke engine? nope, not that hard.
no ones doubting that mazda can get 250 hp out of an NA rotary...were just saying that somethings up with the car if its getting that much less hp....someone should go dyno the auto one and see what that puts down.

people were doubting that hp number, read all the replies, not just the last page. different people have stated "i was surprised the rx-8 made 250 hp on an NA" and other statements of similar doubt.
do i really need to go back and quote all them? b/c i will.
obviously something is up with the car, otherwise this topic would not be here.
i'm doubting no one's intelligence, i'm simply stating that all the replies in this topic up to the point that i said something have been one liners implying mazda lied and letting down the rotary community. at least the people over at rx8forum are trying to come up with logical reasons why the rx-8 is down on power, not simply because "mazda designed a ***** car" or "mazda did it again" or "mazda should have just used a 3 rotor". and i did not resort to name calling. people are acting like jackasses when they charge their responses with emotion rather than logic.
and as it has been said many times before, THE RX-8 IS NOT AN RX-7. if mazda does design a new rx-7, it will obviously be more powerful and more of a *****-to-the-wall sports car than the 8, so quit worrying. mazda raised the sports car bar with the FD, obviously they will surpass this expectation with the next rx-7, otherwise no one will buy it.

I agree with a lot of the sentiment here, something needs to happen to convince the rotary engineers that they need to do this all the way- bigger housings, more compression, SOMETHING. Hell, even go 3 rotor... you can only put in so much horsepower before physics won't allow it. This was realized long ago- in reality there is no replacement for displacement.
