New Recall, Heat

yes another recall. this is for ALL of the rx8's. the newer ones get a pcm reflash, the older cars (older than about 3/05 build), have no fix yet.



the reason for the recall is that the gas tank melts. heat shields may or may not be in shipment/development.



Mazda has no parts to fix the older cars yet, and if one shows up at the dealer we're instructed to hold it. there is also a national stop sell so you may or may not be able to even buy one right now.

how would a PCM reflash stop the tank from melting?

seems mazda is having too many problems with the rx-8.

Idle too rich, cat overheating and heating up the rest of the exhaust?

what about high rpm high speed runs and then bringing the car to a rest afterwards? wouldn't that cause more heat than any idle map could?

theres a stop sell, you cant buy an rx8 right now
