Some of you may remember my post about the cracked intake manifold that was fixed at the same time as the latest emissions recall was done. When we got in the car after all that was finished, the check engine light was on again. We drove home that night (had been at the dealership far too long to wait around any longer) and dropped it back off the next morning, turns out the 02 sensors had intermittant faults. Since the dealership had to oder the sensors, it was another week and a half of driving around with the CEL on, meaning limp home mode.

As of Tuesday evening, the O2 sensors have been replaced, the CEL is off, and the car seems to be running right finally. Not sure if it's because of the limp home mode for so long, but after the emissions flash, the car seems to run much better in the low end of the rev range, and definately idles smoother now.

Hopefully the last of the snow and slush melt off soon, and I can see how the car feels under more "spirited" driving...

Oh, and for the record...a good set of snow tires makes even a non-TCS equipped 6 speed RX-8 into a snowmobile.

not sure why, but the new plugs make a huge difference, plus you've got a nice clean intake manifold too!

new plugs make a huge difference. I am on my third set, at almost 60K miles. Most of our local group replace theirs after about 20K miles, less if there was a lot of track time on them. Wires seem to not hold up for too long either. Glad you got the car running again, I know how much it sucks to be without it for a while.
