Contemplating Getting An Rx-8

Wow. They don't have that where I am at.
Rob- I am just asking opinions right now, just trying to sort some things out. The dealership I work at gets constant customers, I talk to at least 10 a day. Good thing is I sell used and new cars(I am certified for both), and used cars there is more money to be made. And used car customers are wanting to buy ASAP.
Good news though, I sold my first car today. New Chrysler Town and Country. Was not much money because of the huge sale going on, but it was a sale. I don't know how much was made, we did not leave until about 1030. And they were AWESOME about everything. I like customers like that.

when I said nicer cars for the money...I meant slightly used ones, still under warranty, like 350z, evo, etc...
Have you driven an rx8? I was very unimpressed with the power. Handling was great, but no where near enough power.

I think your better off not buying the Fd. They really need to be set up properly to be reliable. Besides you already went through one RX7. I would hate to see you buy a fd then end up with blown coolant seals, blow the engine, turbo take a **** on you etc.. Just as soon as you get the car. The Fd is a toy car, project car, hobby, obsession whatever. A good candidate for a non-mechanical persons daily driver it is not.
I like the rx8 and all but for it to really be any fun you have to put that turbo on it and even then it's just basically a better handling Fd. The RX8 is NOT a fast car. Ryans rx8 is fun to drive but it's no faster than your basic fd with a cat back and down pipe.
If I were in your shoes I would be looking at the 05 Mustang. It's cheap, it looks nice, it's got a nice interior, the aftermarket is huge, The GT makes 300hp and 320ftlb of torque. The RX8 makes like what, maybe 180hp? I imagine the cars cost about the same.
If you had to have rotary I would take the rx8 over the rx7 simply because the work involved in getting the fd nice. But if you want more bang for your buck your better off with a mustang IMO.

I do like the new Mustangs also, but I just wanted to be different with a car. The 05 mustang is very appealing, have not really seen the aftermarket for it, but I am sure it is huge. It is mustang for christs sake. I could also consider a cobra if I am looking at uppy-downy engines. Just they are heavy pigs. But they make some great power, and great power for cheaper prices compared with an FD.
No, I have not driven an RX-8 yet, I just sat in one for the first time two weeks ago, and liked it.
Thanks for the input Dave, you may have steered me in a different direction.

Ok, I looked at the GT and it's even more appealing, is 6k less than the RX-8. Only thing I don't like, is the power band. 300hp@5750. But the torque is 320@4500. I am liking this alot.
They are sexy cars IMO. Hmmm, maybe on my day off I will commit blasphemy and go drive a new 'Stang GT.
What I really like is the Shelby Cobra GT500. That car is SEXY!!! How does 450hp and 450 torque sound? Sounds great. No prices from what I see though. Probably 45-50k.
EDIT- No release until 2006.

Those new Mustangs are the only Fords that made me contemplate owning it......but, I'd still have my underpowered Roh-Tarr-EEEE!
I love those cammer motors...all the grunt and sound of the 302, but with none of the raucousness and they are better built.

I drove the non GT Mustang tonight, and that thing has some nice power to it. I was chirping the wheels going into second gear. Smooth ride, HARD clutch, and it looks sexy. It is just hard to get the GT's in stock the person said.
See what happens. Oh, and you can get a factory supercharger put on the Mustang GT or just the regular old Mustang. Pretty neat.
