Black GT with black/red interior and aero kit, just purchased tonight!
Congrats!

It would be cool if some of you would state if this is your first rotary car. What made you decide to purchase it, driving impressions etc..

Its so cool to see rotary cars on showroom floors again!

New to this forum but been on RX8 Forum for a month, decided to see what else is out here. I have a Sunlight Silver, 6MT, GT, NAV/Blk Leather, Borla exhaust on the way. I enjoy driving it when I get the chance... it's my wifes car. I've got a 74 Super Beetle convertible for really rainy San Diego days (never happens) and my daily driver/rider is an 02 ZZR1200. While I'm not a huge fan of driving anymore it's a great car and my first rotary and first Mazda, kinda. I briefly had an affair with an 85 RX7 GSL but got tired of replacing the clutch and got rid of it after a few months but always had a bug as a back up. I like the smooth and quiet engine. I remember that from the RX7. Definitely not loud like the bug. I've been a VW and Nissan owner since 16. Nothing will ever top the bike though! It's the only way to corner and accelerate.

But on topic, I think it's a great car for us, it's fast.... yes it is, (but that's not a huge selling point for my wife or me in a car) it's family oriented with 4 seats so we can stick a child seat in the back and it's optioned to the max so no loss of luxury for the wife. We traded an 00 Maxima SE and didn't want to step down in luxury or performance. There are cars out there that I would've considered buying instead, the new Maxima if it weren't so wierd looking, the M45 if it didn't cost 10K more to get in (I had to fight the wife like hell to get away from this thing), maybe even the acura but none look as stunning as this car and none are nearly as fun to drive. It's just plain fun to drive, which I didn't think I'd ever say again.

Ti 6spd. First Rotary. First car for 5 years, mad Ducati rider (999R) recently skittled by a dweeb in a Subaru. RX8 engine is a free revving beast that appears to need some more horses (mind you my bike is a totally unfair benchmark for the car). I'm currently researching performance mods and am very much appreciating your forum.

Why doesn't anyone understand this, THIS IS NOT A REPLACEMENT FOR THE RX-7.

I have a Silver GT rx-8 and in my opinion those being critical of have seen one yet (sat in it) and especially haven't driven one yet.

Yea, it's not the fastest thing on the road, but after searching for a new vehicle for 7 months, and testing everything (350z, IS 300, G35 coupe, S2000, WRX, 330ci, TSX, even a freakin Corvette) I made an offer on an RX-8 halfway through my first test drive!

There is nothing like it on the road, 4 seats, 4 doors, amazing handling and breaking, and yes it's quick enough.

You are all right, the RX-7 is faster. That's because it was freakin built that way. You can wait a couple more years when the new 7 comes out for 2006.

Another thing to mention, I never heard of this site until I bought my 8. I am not a former 7 owner but am glad to be a Wankel owner, great engine and couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Dugless - I must ask did you find this site after being at the rX-8 forum??

People here are more about having fun and loving our cars. Over there its all about internet wars.

Welcome to no pistons and don't believe half of what you read here its mostly joking around or off kilter opinions.

The other half is out right lies.

I think the 8 is sweet and like I said before its great to see a NEW rotary car on the road. I love my 7 and love the fact that my car is the only car on the road with a rotary engine.

I admittedly did not test drive an 8 yet but will soon. I am not in the market to buy one. I just bought a Mini Cooper S with the John Cooper Works upgrade kit added. But, I must take one for a spin just to see what the hoopla is about with this power issue.

Again welcome to No Pistons. It quite interesting here.

Dont forget me in the 8 owner club. I found this site after vosko posted his burnout clip on rx8forum and am little by little migrating here since I am sick and tired of the same things being discussed voer and over and over again. It's HP, MPG and heat talk. Thats it. Dammit, shut up and go drive the damn car people!

Sorry. Venting a bit

Hey Vosko, how the hell did you do that burnout? I'm traveling nwo and cant drive my baby (sniff sniff) but I tried for like 3 hours one time and couldnt do it.
