Wouldn't be nice if Nissan and Mazda acted like the other existed and started a HP per dollar war?

As it has been reported both cars are in the 6 sec to 60mph zone.

The Mazda is more practical.

Nissan swears the Z will start under $30000...Mazda less enthusiastically says it is aiming under $30k.

The Z has more HP, weighs more but has more torque.

We'll see what the final price is on the RX-8 it seems to be higher everytime I hear another report about the expected cost.

I think the RX-8 is a better car than the Z, but I like them both. I fear that the Z will sell better than the Rx-8 though, because most people are not familiar with the Rotaries and will go to what they know: pistons. I think the Rx-8 will sell better if Mazda really promotes the car, and spends some money on advertising it. Then people will become familiar with the car and the engine and understand that rotary is a good thing. It might even bring in some more traffic on this board from people curious about Mazda's new car.

As for looks, I think both are good looking but the Rx-8 has a few up on the Z. Hopefully the RX-8 will not be ungodly priced, this would definitely not have a good effect on how it sells. After all I wouldn't mind owning one, and not just in my dreams. :sleepy:

I have a feeling the pricing of the RX-8 will be its demise. I don't believe Mazda will sell it cheaply enough.

Here is a link to a current article on the 350Z in Sport Compact Car. Starting price: 27,500. I hope the Rx-8 stays under 30 G's.

I havent seen much of them. I liked the RX8, before the "final" model was released. But i Always liked suicide doors.

and about sales. I hope they keep it at a high 20s or very low 30s. Its not like the rotary is famous for its gas mileage and engine life.
