Cars at repair shops almost always have a "story", then again its a TII, so if it didnt have a story, then you should worry. So you are passing on the car because its a pre-89? Thats the best way to look for a used car, when you dont NEED it and can wait for one to pop up.

That's how I got my TII. I was looking, but I didn't need it. I ended up with a 90 with a rebuilt motor and new turbo for $4800. The interior was perfect and the exterior was decent. Needs paint and needs some small dents and the pin stripes removed, otherwise the car is great. It pays to wait. also the car was only a 30 minute drive away.
