Yeah there are many car scams going around beware all!

 

people that screw people out of their hard earned money should be hunted down and buried 6 feet down----Cant stand Liars, Haters and thieves

 

Someone from the UK tried to make me the victim of a scam regarding an Apple laptop computer for sale. It was advertised for sale for about $2,400.00. The scammer said that he would pay me my price plus shipping and $100.00 for my trouble by cashiers check, but asked that I declare that the value was only $100.00 and to list it as computer parts to avoid the high tariff. I agreed and received a check for something in the area of $2,700.00. I have forgotten the exact amounts because it has been several years. The buyer arranged prepaid shipping. I shipped the box and was contacted by the buyer complaining that it had arrived in customs and the declared price was $2,700.00, and he couldn't pick it up or inspect it without paying the tariff. I told the buyer that I didn't want to be dishonest and declare less than it was worth and risk arrest, so I declared the true value.



After a few days I checked the tracking number and found that the Apple computer box had been signed for and picked up, which meant that the tariff, in excess of $250.00, and the shipping had been paid. I am sure the buyer was very pleased when he opened his box containing old phone books that he paid over $300.00 for. SURPRISE!



I was so surprised to find that the check was no good, gee.

 

This is a common scam on eBay, Craig's list and many other car and other expensive item sales sources.

Back tracking them law enforcement will usually find that the final stop for your money is Nigeria, Russia, or SE Asia. (via clearing houses in Europe, or The Dominican Republic/Costa Rica area.)

It is so well known and yet people keep falling for it. It has many variations, including bogus U.S. Serviceman names supposed to be stationed in Europe.

Simple rule of thumb: Meet in person and be given cash in U.S. bills. If they are too distant for that, suggest they use PayPal. A scammer won't as PayPal verifies all funds used through them and prosecutes criminals.

Looking for a low mileage,untainted 3rd gen,as close to stock as possible!I've been saving for years!If sounds good,i'd fly there(i'm in PA),drive it and check it over,either ship home or drive home.Interested in any color,must be 5 speed,and original engine-NO RE-BUILDS!
