From Honda-Tech



I was recently selling my integra online, and was contacted by a guy name of Jimmy Cole in UK. He offered me my asking price with very little bargain. He said he would pay me with a cashier's check which will be issued/sent by a business associate of his in the US. He told me that the business associate owes him money in the amount greater than the price of my car and then asked me if I could send him the balance when I get the cashier's check. Surely, the cashier's check arrives, but being a paranoid ass that I am, I decide to wait for couple of weeks before I send anything out. I almost sent him the money when, the day after I deposited the cashier's check, I saw that I have available balance of $9900+. But I decided to hold it anyways, because now that he's sent me the money he's not going anywhere if the check is real, and if the check is fake, then I just saved my ass from getting ripped off $6000+.

Surely, about 2 weeks later, BofA withdrew $9900 from my account stating that the deposited item was fraudulent.



If I sent him the money, I would've owed the bank the money that I withdrew.



So be aware of this scam.

Nice, my cousin got screwed one time with a fake money order, nothing out of pocket, but lost the car.

People need to be shot.

I got a hit from an ad that I sold over a year ago.. with the same exact verbage in the email. Also from the UK. The bastard even woke me up in the middle of the night to see if I had the car.

I was watching the news here in Houston and they JUST had a story on two Houstonians who just got fucked out of their money in the very same way.

i guess this is the reason why people dont want to accept checks anymore for purchases

The same guy is everywhere, trying to buy a transmission from me, and the same story went

-i have a partner that owes me money in US, he'll pay you and you send the transmission blah blah



there are many others like it, some obvious things about these type of scams:

- they have a generic e-mail sent out (can be sent to just about anyone)

- searches on the net for your topic so in the e-mail it would look like

"hello, i'm interested in your FS:1993 FD with 100k for $12,000 OBO ...."

that should give you a hint

-answers are almost instant (but then again i check my e-mail every 10 mins haha)

-promotes themselves first like " i'm a reputable businessman from UK etc etc"

dotn buy shti unless you know the person selling the product. Same with cars look at the car then buy it. There is a lot of that **** going on. People sell rx-7 for like 5,000, but they want the money order first. dont buy nothing unless you can personaly see the product. thats what i say
