He basically says he'll send me a $8k deposit...wait for it to clear completely, then WHEN it does...he'll "send his agent" to see/feel the car... then if they like...I'll get the other $6k via wire transfer or w/e?
I gave him my name/mailing address/phone number...should I be worried?

I'd be a lot more cautious, and protective over your car, until you have confirmed it's real. I'd also invest in an alarm for your car (if you dont already have one), and a house alarm.

i also got scamed... i bought a 20B from rotaryworks.com, met him on thepartstrader.com sent him over 3K paid for the motor and engine porting, exhaust porting, and ect. would have been pushing over 500hp....... when the motor was "ready" he closed his forum, changed his home phone and cell number and his e-mail.... its been too long for me to do anything about it so all is lost.. i dont care about the money, i just want the motor...

man the same **** happened to my buddy in florida. He originally bought the car for $3000 but pretty much restored it. He just made the mistake of not getting the title because he said that he wasnt driving it so he didnt want to bother. He went to sell it to some dude in georgia and got pulled over on the way up thier after crossing state lines. transporting stolen property over state lines. now hes in jail has owe around $150000 in fines and lawyer fees. so dont buy cars unless you know that they are legit because that cars was stolen by the guy and he gave him a fake number and they cant trace it back.

I;m actually in a bit of a spot with an old Thunderbird I sold to a buddies kid. Turns out the car wa a repo, (I never knew, Bank had paper work) but it was a repo and when I signed over the application for Title (Never titled in FL) the kid calls me back and says they won't title it. Turns out the car was repossed without the proper paperwork eer being filled out... Grrr....

I like to buy and sell RX-7's to make some $$ to keep my FD goin. I have had at least 4 scammers try to take my money (and the first one did) Simple as this: If it sounds too good to be true: IT IS. You see a nice car for $5,000 DONT GET GREEDY. And ALWAYS ask to see the car. Just for kicks, even if you are not in the same area as the possible scammar email the seller and say something to the effect of "i will be there this week visiting family" You will get a reaction similar to "oh i am not where the car is now"
On Ebay: beware of "closed auctions" scammers will leave their auctions open and then close them to "pre approved buyers only" this gets people luered into wanting the car. You are protected somewhat if you buy a car THROUGH ebay BUT! in order to be pre approved for an auction you MUST be put on a list by emailing the seller. This way the seller can get your contact information and contact you outside of ebay asking if you are interested in the car. That way it is almost impossible to track them AND you are not covered under Ebays policy. Do not buy a car outside of an auction from someone you get in contact through ebay.

This is the part that would have tipped me off, HAHA. Never had any problems with the car? HAHA. And the timing belt??
When I was looking for an FD 3 and 4 years ago, the first three I looked at were scams. The first two were in Romania IIRC, and I think the last one was in Italy. Please. So I ended up flying out to Denver to check out my car first before I bought it and drove it all the way back to NC. Now I'm probably moving to Colorado Springs...if I'd only waited, haha.
Good luck to everyone. I think we should castrate all the scammers...or just kill them.
