For sale: Book: Rotary Engine by Kenichi Yamamoto.
This is the seminal work on the Rotary Engine. Kenichi Yamamoto was the original chief engineer of the Rotary Engine research department at Mazda. It was his work, and the work of his team, that created the only long term viable commercially successful rotary engine. This book contains a wealth of information on the development of the rotary engine, both form Mazda and various other companies. This is a very hard to get book! This is the essential addition to a Mazda Rotary enthusiasts collection.
This book is broad in coverage and technical in nature. Some parts are extremely detailed and complex, although most parts of the book are very accessible to the average person. Want to know why the Wankle Rotary Engine uses a Peritrochoidal curve instead of the alternative Epitrochoid or Hypotrochoid curves for the internal shape of the rotor housing? Don't even know what a Peritrochoidal curve is ... well this book will tell you.
Want to know how the shape and positions of the Mazda Rotary Engine ports were determined and the effect of alternate designs were? Want to know how the seals were designed in such a way that Mazda was the only company successful at solving the gas sealing issues that plagued other designs at the time?
This book explains everything you need to know to become an expert on the design of the Wankle Rotary Engine.
