i have a 88 b2200 5 speed and im kicking around the idea of swaping a T2 drive line

motivefab sells the mounts for the swap so thats no big deal

i was thinking of buying a jdm front clip and with the motor tranny and full harness with the ecu

and lay the full harness in the truck and hooking up what is needed to run. but i dont know if it will work that easy

i read some where a guy took a T2 tranny and swaped the tail with the b2200 and was able to use the stock drive shaft and shifter location. my qustion is will this work with the motoivefab mounts?

thank you for any info in advance

The B2200 uses the M series transmission, which also came in the n/a RX7's and the 5 speed miata. The R series transmission came in the TII and the B2600. Parts are not interchangable between the M series and R series, but the bellhousings are interchangable within either series. I have not had a chance to open up a B2600 transmission, but it may suffer from the same problem as the B2200 transmission. While the rotary bellhousing will bolt right onto the B2200 transmission, the input shaft is 1/4" longer on the B2200. It wont fit without cutting the transmission shaft down. I have heard from people who have done just that with no problems, but I just went with the RX7 transmission and swapped the B2200 tailhousing on so I could use the truck shifter and trans mount.

My mounts are designed to allow the use of the stock B2200 shifter and mounts and driveshaft. I cant say for sure about the B2600/TII trans because I havent done it yet.

Id recommend a standalone with the swap. The stock ecu sucks at stock power levels, and only gets worse as the hp goes up. Not to mention it will be a lot of hassle sorting through the wiring. The ignition wires are all run through the chassis harness on the RX7, so you will have lots of work to seperate the wires you need from the chassis harness and install them into the truck.
