ROTARY ENGINE WEIGHT
#1
Hi all, This is my FIRST post so bear with me! I am in the process of a SPECIAL PROJECT (SECRET at this time). I am looking for a LIGHTWEIGHT engine for this project. The "ROLLING CHASSIS" weighs in at around 500 LBS.
Looking for a NON-TURBO rotary engine weight as well as the "IDEAL YEAR". Major HP output is not a concern..I'm sure STOCK HP would make this baby turn some good times.
I'm not up to speed yet on the engine model numbers, so any information will get me started!
Thanks!
Tom

Well, if you were going to go for the best stock N/A output, you should look for a 1989-1991 13B rotary. They put out 160HP at the flywheel. The only more powerful N/A solution would be a 20B engine, which would be much heavier and much more expensive.

Well, I know Yaw power made a single rotor that cranked out 100hp. It prob only weights 75lbs. Even stock they are not very heavy, I'm not a very big guy and i dont lift weights, I can pick up a 13B by myself from the floor up to about my waist and walk with it.....its hard but I can manage. Thats just the motor itself, not counting waterpump/housing, alt, starter, intake and exhaust manifolds, clutch. You throw all that in there and its prob going to add another 60lbs.
Anyway, I didnt really tell you a damn thing did I lol. I guess my main reason for posting was to tell you about the single rotor at Yaw
