Hello all. I have an 88 B2200 that I have just put a street ported 12a into, with an edelbrock and some sort of an aftermarket intake. First question, what is the correct way to install the distributor? Why is there two marks on the ecentric shaft pulley? The engine will start but it seems to take a few too many cranks. I have to adjust the distributor all the way advanced, but a tooth forward or backward on the drive wont run. Any thoughts? Any tuning tips with an eddie? My other main question, my intake manifold blocks the coolant passages so how might I route the outlet for the heater core? Thanks for any input.

Ok, if anybody is interested, I found a coolant flow diagram and am going to put the heater return hose in the lower radiator hose which is the cooled, return side. I looked for some type of fitting to place into the lower hose but nobody makes an adapter that I can find with a large enough port for the heater hose so I had one made by the local metal shop. 1.5" pipe with 3/4" T out the side.

Also before I began my swap I heard that an RX7 trans will work if I use my truck tailshaft but I used a '79 trans and the mount is in the same position, overall length is maby 1/4 inch shorter. I have heard they are alot different externally than the '80 and later. The shifter did touch a bit on the shifter hole in the floor but I just tapped it a bit and its fine. I also had to bang in the firewall/ tunnel area for clutch fork clearance. Also I accidentally broke the flat tip off the fork, so that gave me more clearance too. I welded a plate to the frame for the engine mount. The steering center link keeps the engine from sitting where I wanted it. You may be able to reposition the oil pickup tube and reshape the oil pan for proper clearance. I heated and bent the center link, I dont recomend it but it works. Im not sure if the truck tailshaft would give proper clearance but the mount and length is basically the same. The B2200 driveshaft fit like factory.

Another note, I didnt look too closely at the truck clutch slave cylinder but the overall lenght was alot longer than the '79, so I decided to use the one with the tranny. The truck hose is a 10mmx 1.0 thread and the RX7 is 10mmx 1.25. I couldnt find anything in two part store catalogs that even had a 10x 1.25 thread so I ran a 10x 1.25 die down the stock hose end. I tightened it as I normally would and no problems since. It reaches just fine to the other side of the truck where the RX7 slave is. Im not sure what the threads are on the '80 and up trans but im going to guess there 10x 1.0 since I havent heard of this problem.

Oh ya, and the throttle cable is barely long enough for me to use with the manifold I have. I used the factory end and throttle cam on the Edelbrock. And the carb flange is very close to the inner fender. Thanks for lookin. Any input/ advise would be great. Ill be posting as soon as I get the coolant pipe in and start tunig the carb if anyones interested in running one. Ive heard they run firly well, we'll see.

Nice looking build, I am in just about the same stage with my build, I am putting a street ported 13b into a 1990 B-2200. I am at the same point just about, but I did not use the RX Trans, I swapped the bell housing onto the truck Trans. That was not a problem. I am also running a GSL-SE oil pan and a 12a front cover. So I am running into the exact same interference between the cross member and the steering rod. I am going to drop my oil pan tomorrow and see how much I can modify it. My plans are to cut out the sloped wall on the front and fab up a new front plate and weld it in. What ignition are you planning on running? With the two marks on the main pulley, the one mark is for timing the leading plugs, and the other is for the timing on the trailing plugs. I don't know much about tuning carb's. When I talked to racing beat that recommend you run Weber’s or their specially machined Holly's. I have seen plenty of cars run on standard carbs but I think they are allot harder to tune and don't make quite as much power. If you want to keep in touch though our builds maybe we can help each other avoid problems here and there.
