The input shaft on my B2200 transmission was about 1/4" longer than the rx7 input shaft. I swapped the bellhousing to the rotary one, and after the trans wouldnt seat all the way on the engine, I measured the input shafts. I just went with the fc transmission then.

Yeah I cut 1/2" off my input shaft.Did you get the beast running?Updates??

Ive been working on getting the new garage up and running, and I need to repaint my protege before I get finished up on the truck. But as it sits, its waiting for an intake manifold, Im thinking TII port matched to the 6 port block, then wire and plumb it. Not too much work left to do, I just have some more pressing projects to get out of the way first.

Ive also found a complete B2600 4wd driveline I want to pick up as well. Its basically the TII trans with a different bellhousing, and a short 1st and 5th gear. Then the 4wd will make way for more power down the road, maybe even a modest PP with a turbo... That would surely bruise some ego's. Lots of hp, 2700 lbs and 4wd launches...

I had one with a 13B Haltech.Never got to 4th...much less 5th.

Hi, looking at getting a b2000 later this year as a daily driver and tow car for my drift car. The truck will also be used for a bit of drifting until the proper BMW drift car is ready.

Just seeing this build makes me pretty confident it won't be much trouble. My idea is to buy an entire turbo FC, take the stuff I need then scrap the rest, so would I be OK to use the turbo FC gearbox or is there a difference between the n/a and turbo in terms of swapping the back end of the gearboxes? (look forward to seeing your FAQ on this).

Also, did you just use the core 13b or did you use the mounts from that? I'm not sure how it all works but where your custom mounts hit the body, is that supposed to be an engine mount in the truck - or is that used for just the lower brace normally?

Cheers, I will carry on researching - good luck https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

The turbo trans will require a new tranny crossmember, or at least modifying the stock one to bolt to the TII transmission. It may be possible with some mixing and matching of trans mount parts, but only time will tell. I do have a TII trans I will be swapping into the truck, but first I wanted to get it running with the n/a trans(and have the mounts made for that) so I could sort out any problems that may arise.

My mounts replace the mounts on the engine, and truck. There is no provision for a rubber mount like stock, but rotaries run smooth enough it wont be much of an issue. Its not going to ride like a lexus, but then again, what 20 yr old truck will. My mounts bolt to the frame where the lower brace does, but that location is easily strong enough to support the engine as well as the suspension loads.

Also, what I do the TII trans, I will be making another set of mounts, and probably a custom trans mount(unless it can be done easily with OEM parts). These mounts will be designed more towards people who are modding the engine. It wont be as straight of a bolt-in as my mounts using the n/a trans, but by simply using the TII trans, you will need more custom work anyways. The driveshaft is different, although the B2600 driveshaft may work, as it uses a transmission thats very close to the TII trans.

That's great, thanks for the insight. I don't mind engine vibration but was just wondering. I guess I will just have to try it out for myself and just pick up what I can from you and anybody else I've found doing it/done it. I know that I can get driveshafts easily modified locally anyway, as a friend got his shortened with a different end put on, so if I got the entire FC donor then it would be easy enough.

Cheers https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif Good luck with finishing this one I look forwards to seeing how it turns out! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif

?- do you think i would have to upgrade to a TII tranny. i have a 89b and its getting a 1991 turbo ingine with microtech emc using gsl se injectors?

mazdaspeed7 02-28-2008 04:36 PM

It depends on how you drive. You will be pushing the limits of the transmission, but if you arent abusive to the trans, like shifting hard, burnouts, drag racing, etc you will be fine.
