Where can I get my irons lapped?

yes. I grind mine and do some for other eng. builders, but I'm in Ontario, Canada. Racing beat charges $70 per face,$280 for an eng. If you get a good shop to grind them it should be about $150-$200.

Glad to help. Not that it helps you other than for reference, but here's a few shots of the resurfacing that I do. You'll notice they look dull after hardening. BTW RB doesn't harden there irons after lapping. The guy on the tech line had no idea what I was talking about.

Too bad you don't live in the US. I'd pay you to lap my plates (about 3 engines worth).
Not to mention I'd have a longer season(not winter) and more customers. Maybe some day I'll decide to make the move south.

Use a sanding block and some 400grit or higher wet paper with a bit of varsol. Rub it in circular motions.

Can anyone tell me what the plates are made of exactly. Are they really iron? I was asked this of a place that I found that did the hardening process on engine parts. They wanted to know what the material is.
