What Do you Think of These Engine Builders?
#12
Have a look at the front pulley and see if the 4 small bolts isn't holding a lock plate that is preventing the big bolt from loosening up.
I give up. After two broken socket wrenches and four attempts by four different local shops to remove my front pulley bolt I am giving up and ordering a rebuilt shortblock. Here is a list of builders I have found on this and other forums. Let me know what you think of the builders, stories good and bad.

In a perfect world every body would pay 5000 for a perfect engine (new rotor housinds and all new seals) rebuild and be happy.... but in the real world.... engine rebuilder resuse lots of parts to make the price lower and imperfects come to play.
Every engine rebuilder you just listed has unhappy people.... out of evey 100 rebuilds you will get X% that will not work right.....
its just a number games...
So they increase the prices of all the rebuilds so they can cover any problems on the engine that they do have a troubles with and hopefully at the end of the day come out with a few bucks to take home after they pay for all the bills
The other alternative is to rebuild it yourself let you blow up your first one or two engines to try to rebuild. But that way sucks because only person you have to blame is you ...lol

Very true!!
Thats why I would never re-use any internal engine parts. I don't want my name on a motor that has re-used apex seals or side seals in it.....I dont care if they only have 5000km on them, I still wouldn't use them.

What is your location?
I can't say enough good things about rotorsports racing. From the tuning, to the engine rebuild, to the parts hunting they've done for me, I've been really impressed.
It means alot to me when I can call the shop who built my engine nearly 2 years ago, they still know who I am, and they still make time for any questions I have, and still BS around with me like I'm an old friend.

I think what he means on reused internal parts is rotors, housings, plates, etc. Not seals.
I know of "professional" engine builders that measure seals and springs and re-use them, and if they are not within spec then they get replaced. In the end you have a motor that could have 4 used apex seals and 2 new ones The same goes for springs ect....
Thats definatly not my idea of a rebuild, more like a quick fix

I had 2 engines from Pineapple:
First last 5K before a bad iron rendered it useless. Teardown revealed I was not sent what I paid for.
Second Engine: Sent with no oil squirters installed in E-Shaft, Lots of RTV in the Oil Pump.
Just my documented observations and experiences.
Ouch.
Nicad2,
Where are you located?

Thanks for all of the suggestions everyone. Not sure if you saw my post on "the proper way to remove the front eccentric shaft bolt".
Eshaft Bolt Removal
It was epic. For now I am planning to just rebuild it myself. Anyhow, I am on to the next problem which of course relates to the eccentric shaft. That is apparently where most of the damage to this engine was. Here is a link with some pics.
Bad Eccentric Shaft?
Thanks again!
