Hows it going guys, I have a base 87 rx7 that just blew a coolent o ring so Im pulling the engine. Will the engine is out I was wanting to port the intake and exhaust, But Im not sure what kind of port I should get for the intake and exhaust. I can withstand a loud car , but no bridge port(from what I know thats hella loud). Also do I have to get new injecters or fuel pump, ect. Im getting the templets from racing beat FYI. what kind of results can I expect too? Anything will help!

A basic streetport is best. Somebody else will be able to tell you about your injectors and whether or not to upgrade etc.

I would hold off on the RB templates and get the JUDGE ITO templates if you are so inclined.

Large sideport! You won't need bigger injectors..

Don't forget this is a six-port N/A engine, i'm not sure if Judge ITO is making templates for a 6port or not?

Mazdaspeed7 on here has had good results from what I gather with just a largish streetport.. You may want to PM about what hes done.

He also advocates the removeal of the exhaust sleeve.. I've also done this to my 'experimental' engine, which should be driving in the next few days, so I will be able to comment further then

Ive put most of the pertinent info in this section of the forum. do a search for my username and porting and you should find everything Ive posted about my engines. Ive specifically left out peak power for a reason. My ecu is maxed, and power falls off at 5500 rpm in 4th. I can get a bit more revs at lower rpm, but Im still missing a large part of my powerband. But that is very close to not being an issue anymore.

It sounds like you want a streetport. Theres pics of mine, which is a rather large SP on a 6 port engine, in this forum as well. A word of advice though. The magic of porting isnt the outline of the port shape. The bowl and runner play a huge part. That can make or break a port, regardless of the template.

And removal of the exhaust sleeve isnt for everyone. Its not necessary with a mild SP. But it will move the powerband up some, and it makes the exhaust note smoother and deeper.

i think this is the exact reason i didnt want to reply to this post, is because id idnt want to type all that info thanx MS7

also the port will depend on how much power u are looking to get and what u will use teh car for. and how much money u want to spend on the car.

Good point. Porting is only one aspect. There are many things that need to be considered. With a mild street port, you can run it on a basically stock setup. But the more porting you do, the less adequate the stock parts will be. It gets to the point where nothing off the shelf will be adequate. Perfect example of the snowball effect. The more porting you do, the more work everything else is going to need.

I was wanting to use my car for everyday driving, but i wanted some power in my drive, which my intake and exhaust isnt doing it for me. I have about 750 to spend. Ive been waiting for judges templetes, but its been a while and he still hasnt made them so im not waiting any longer. Also does anyone know of or have a cheap engine for sale that will hold me over for a few months while I rebuild my engine? Any info on both topics will help!

Thanks guys'

Mazdaspeed7 thats one of the main issues I wasnt sure about? I have the aftermarket exhaust and intake, but will I need larger injectures or anything else if I do a large streed port?
