typical machinists measuring tools are really the main investment as far as special purpose tools go... There are some convenience tools like a engine stand head adapter for the 13B, and a flywheel brake that bolts to the engine so it won't spin when you are trying to torque either the eccentric shaft bolt or flywheel nut. Those two make life easier during the rebuild and thats basically it, you will need cleaning supplies and stuff like hylomar and engine assembly lubes when you go to put it back together.

yea, a fltwheel stopper is a must. Some say that you need a dowel rod puller, but I didn't, they just came out.

Would you rebuild an engine that was in an engine bay fire. I thought the heat would stuff the motor up.

I would think the heat would mess up the metal and weaken it?

look its just a block, I have called around to some shops and I was told that there was a good chance the motor was still good. There was another guy in the other forum whos car burnt to the ground, guess what, his motor was fine. I Just want to know what special tools I need and where to find them thats all, not argue with somebody becuase they think my motor is not good. After I pull it apart I will have certain things check by someone else. If its bad its bad, it want cost me anything to break it down. So I guess I have all the tools so far?

Also why would the ,motor be bad? Becuase the fire on the outside of the engine is hottor than the combustion inside it? no

If you don't have a dial indicator, you will have to figure out another way to check the endplay when you put the thing back together.
