It shouldn't leak with healthy o-rings. If anything, get two new ones and swap. Oh, another thing to watch out for is getting paint up there. I know a lot of engine builders just paint over the pedestal mount on the rear plate. Sometimes the paint can detach from the iron and allow some oil to seep under the o-ring.

I think painted iorns are gaysauce! Mine are stock and clean.
