Scariest oil change ever!

So under my oil filter I find this. Here is the big question though. Is the feed to the filter from the center where the filter screws on, or does it feed from the outside in? Because it was in the outside part of the pedistol. I don't know if it dropped in or if the oil ring in the front cover squeesed out. The stock oil pressure gauge shows 5psi at 900 idle 45 at cruise and just over 60 at throttle. Its a s5 engine so it had the teflon ring around the rubber one, so I must assume it fell under the filter last oil change. GAWD I hope so... There weren't any copper shavings in the oil so it should be okay, right... i don't know though it almost seems to be too big to be the oil ring. here's another pic. and oil pressure seems okay i mean it's low, but that's the stock gauge I'm going by here. I seem to remember the oil ring to be smaller.

Also there was no copper in the oil and I's expect that if there was low oil pressure.

Maybe someone played a prank?
I have a hard time believing that an O-ring got sucked into a pressurized oil passage, then passed through the oil cooler. I say got sucked into the passage because if it had been blown out of the passage and fell into the oil pan, it would have to get through the oil pickup screen and the oil pump. Not bloody likely on both counts.
It does look like a dowel pin O-ring, as extremely unlikely as it is. The O-ring at the front cover is smaller, as are the oil pedestal O-rings.
A thought: What brand of filter are you using? Could the O-ring possibly have come from a valve inside the filter?

I hear stuff like that happens quite often at dealerships.
I would take the engine apart if I were you.

If that's the front cover o-ring, and I suspect it is, if it's sheared from bad assembly it will drop into the oil pan. I've seen this a few times. Been there, done it on mine on accident once.

it wasn't in the oil pan though. it was on th filter pedistol. Does anyonw know the size if the rubber o ring inside the teflon ring so I can measure it for sure and know.
