Inside the exhaust manifold of a S4 Turbo @ the REAR rotor, there is a tube that sticks out into the manifold. What is it?

Can I grind it away and weld it up?

The tube carries fresh air from the airpump to help burn any unburnt hydrocarbons in the exhaust as part of the port air system.

If you are not worried about emissions it is not necessary.
