I'm rebuilding my engine and I took pics of a rotor that is damaged a bit and a rotor housing that doesn't seem that good to me.

I think if I use a lime it could be reusable.



They engine was not blown, the compression was 90 psi on both rotor and everything was stripped off so I decided to rebuilt + port it.



What do you guys think ?

That rotor deffinately ate an apex or sucked something in at one point. Make sure the bent parts on the rotor dont stick out beond the sides. that housing doesnt look to good, something was going on with the apex at the exhaust port.

 

that rotor should be ok if you grind it back down. that rotor housing looks really beat though

 

That's what I thought. On the front housing, there is a little chip beside the intake port. It will be removed when I will port. I think it possibly the cause cause pics are from my front rotor and my front rotor housing.

 

both run about $150 used



if you think about it, the amount of time+money you risk by reusing the parts, is far greater than the amount it will cost to replace them...



i wouldn't use those in my motor

 

the rotor shoudl be ok as mentioned above if the grooves are all fine, sand down the sharp edges and make sure nothign sticks out., as far as rotor housing is conserned from teh pictures it looks beat, slide your finger nail across from one end to the other if u can feel anything its not realyl reusable, unless u want to have realyl crappy compression.

 

Yea when I cross my nail over I feel something. I guess I will change it. For the rotor I guess that it's not easy to find a s5 TII rotor.

 

Agreed. If the rotor is filed down on the edges and on the compression face, I bet it'd be ok. The rotor housing, though, looked like it suffered mild damage from a pre-ignitive knock that dinked the apex seal some.

Can I use any 13B rotor housing or should I stick with s5 TII ? I know there is a thread about rotor housing comparison but I can't find it. Can I use 2 different rotor housing ?

 

the s4 housing has spark plug holes that are up advanced slightly u dont want to missmatch that. i am nto sure if there is a diffrence in the NA and turbo ones as far as strength goes and the type of "sleeve" used
