rotor bearing clearancing
#1
hey all was just wandering if it would be all good to clearance the rotor bearing before installing it into the rotor, im looking at doing them to 0.07 - 0.1 mm and runing about 100 psi oil pressure, so i will be left with the copper side on the bearings, clearanced for a 13b pp , na old school block, can anyone shine the light my way, thanks

You can search. Lynn had a good write up on his techniques.

Only the racing bearings are good and round out of the box. They are made from steel tubing.
Thr street bearings are made of flat stock with a puzzle lock at the seam. The seam in imperfect and Mazda machines away the overly over the puzzle lock so it cannot touch the crank.
The bearings are only truly round when pressed into the rotor.
Put the whole thing in the lathe and check index with a dial indicator. Run the lathe slowly and remove the overly a bit at a time with much kerosene and a flapper wheel made up of 600 wet or dry paper, and a slow turning drill motor. Indicate often and knock down any high spots. Also track the hole size to get what you want. This is because there is more than one supplier for bearings and not all bearings are alike. Overlay on one bearing may be thicker than another. So, one bearing may be all copper showing and be the right size, and another may be still showing some grey and be the right size.
How tight are you planning to turn this thing?
