hi all can anybody point out the downsides ( if any ) to these engines ? as im thinking of fitting a turbo one upto about 500 whp in an 1959 Ford Anglia 100e and i was wondering what would be the most reliable and road driveable way to go? cheers

If you just happen to have the driveline from a 93-95 RX-7 including trans and computers (about 255 HP stock)

And wish to dump in another $5,000.00 on top of that I would work on a far cheaper and even more elegant solution.

I put a Chevy 350 V-8 in a Ford Falcon station wagon back in the 70s, and it was a scream to drive. I helped build a chassis for a Mini Cooper that had a similar Chevy 350 V-8 with a powerglide automatic trans, and a narrowed Ford 8 inch rear end.

Also a scream to drive.

If I did it again I would lookup a Rover Aluminum 215 cubic inch V-8. (the old Buick aluminum V-8 from 62-64). Light weight and parts are still available. The engine is narrow and can be fitted into anything. The Rover version was made in England so you have some in scrap yards. Or, perhaps a Fiat 131 or 124 2 liter engine and trans. Very strong engines. double overhead cams. Nice transmissions.
