Hi,



I need some advice regarding rotary motors and hope you can help me. I compete in oval track racing and the past weekend blew my Kent motor. I'm very keen on replacing the motor with a rotary but many critics suggest that I don't. The reaon therefore is that it is a dirt track with lots of dust and sand. Can the rotary motor take the continious revving for eitht laps, five races a day?

lots of people use rotaries for sand rails and dune buggies... i doubt there is a rougher environment than that for an engine. This is just my opinion however, anyone else have any input on this?

if well maintained then it won't have buildup, since you're running oval dirt track I know you aren't on it that long. clean the filter after races and make sure your fuel cell well sealed lol. in iraq sand gets in everything. the fuel tanks always have piles of sand in them and the filters need changed or cleaned almost monthly lol.

I find it remarkable that in spite of the relatively low popularity, people are able to overlook the rotary engine's remarkable success in motorsports. I would be confident that a properly prepared rotary could take the abuse as well or better than anything else.

Welcome! You could try to seek some advice from forum members like Lynn Hanover, who has built many successful race vehicles powered by rotary, and 1Revvin7 who has built sand rails, they may have some advice for you for this specific application. Otherwise, read read read! There is tons of information available on this forum as well as RX7Club (if you can ignore the drama) that will help you make your decision and build a winning engine.

The p-port I have in my FC is good example, nothing exotic, all very used TII block parts except for the rotors, all stock oem parts. It lives bouncing off the rev limiter at 10,200 at lapping days, and track events for the last 4 years now.. No issues...
