ok so my motor finally died on me. now its time to begin my search for the best replacement i can get. should i have my motor rebuilt or buy a reman? if i get it rebuilt who would be the best to get it done by, with the quickest turn around time? if i get a reman, where from? i need to get this car up and running again asap, sadly it is my only car at the moment. i know i know, dont own a 7 if you dont own another car as well.

Buy a full rebuild kit. A lot cheaper to do it yourself than paying someone.

cheapest isn't always best. Some of the tools can cost you a lot to DIY.

Send the motor to paul way or judge and have them rebuild it.

hoist to pull motor. ( I know you can rent but I buy) engine stand ( I dont work well bent over a milk crate) press and tools for bearings or pay someone to do it. Impact gun to take off socket and install. I know a breaker bar adn a 3 foot pole would work but I busted my hands a couple of times first few I took apart assemled. I was just thinking of all the tools I have to help w/ my cars. You can get around all of it. It just takes longer. I like reasons to buy more tools i guess.

If portng is not an issue, and quality is , go for the reman.. At least you will have the piece of mind that parts will be measured, and not put together with worn parts...To many rebuilders out there, that just plain suck...

it depends how blown your engine is and what needs to be replaced. if it had very high miles might as well just get a reman

Well it has about 110K miles on it, and is now completely dead (my fault for letting it get so bad). When I bought it I knew it had a coolant leak, but I figured I would drive her till she died, then bring her back to life. Lasted about 6 months with the coolant leak, haha, no idea how that worked out. I don't really drive her that hard, rarely ever stepped on it because I knew she was dying. Well, of course I did a few times, but only to smoke some Vettes and Beamers . I have a friend who has a shop in his garage where he rebuilds lots of engines and such. I might just bring it to him, get a nice sized street port, and all new parts. I could help in the process as well, so I know that it's done to my satisfaction. I guess I'll just do that. Next step is figuring out if I want to go single turbo or just upgrade the stock twins.
