im in the process of looking/ordering a kit for my rebuild, i have found a good core, running and never overheated (or so they say)... what i have so far is

Rotary Aviation basic kit 548$

atkins gasket kit 130$

2 atkins stock rotor bearings 40$

1 atkins pilot bearing and seal 12$

mazdatrix oil pump chain 40$

my question is would i benefit from any other internal goodies (aftermarket)... i do not want them unless i "need" them

motor will have a aggressive secondary/aux port (kevin landers merging of the two port) and the primaries will be enlarged but not more than just a mild to aggressive street port

thanks

christopher

Personally i don't see any overwhelming benefit in using any aftermarket internals.

thanks thats why i wasnt sure... i figured that stuff such as hardent stationary gears are for "race" engines or maybe a bridgeport territory... thanks for the reply ill just stick to whats in the list and almost have a full rebuild

the harden gears and stuff, is for spinning the motor to more rpm. if you can live with stockish redline, then you're ok.

might be a good idea to bump the oil pressure a bit though

On your port of choice just my opinion I'd rethink the merging of the two ports on the end plates. For one depending on the turbo and the use that your building the engine for it may not be advantageous to do soo. You have to remember bigger is not always better. For example I've seen setups with basically stock ports pushing well over 400rwhp. If it's a race car your building with a big turbo and running lots of boost then go for it but for a daily driven car I'd do a mild port and use the Pineapple Racing inserts http://www.pineappleracing.com/Prod-pr6pi.html which improves flow alot. On a street car you want usable power through a large range with such a large port your going to limit yourself to a narrow powerband. When it comes to turbos flow and velocity go hand and hand. On my street motors I'm conservative with the porting limiting overlap to a minimum more useable power that way. On a race engine even with half bridges I still try to keep the overlap to a minimum. Let the turbo do the work for you and choosing the correct turbo for your application will make a world of difference at the end of your build. Just my 2 cents.

I bet you dont need the rotor bearings. Measure them first.
