ok my car pulls hard and runs fine, no problems at startup and never floods... however i checked the compression last night to see if i would feel comfortable turboing the car and i got 93 psi on the front and 90 on the rear with a piston guage.... now i need to rebuild the motor sometime soon because thats getting a bit weak though its nothing to worry about immediately.... car has never overheated either

what i want to do is just do a budget rebuild and maybe beef it up and definately port it as much as i can (largest streetport or half bridge) .... what all exactly is advised to be replaced... i noticed that atkins rotary sells a rotor kit which is everything i need for the rotor and such (all seals and springs) but do i also need to purchase the gasket kit too? i dont want to buy it piece by piece and end up paying just as much for a whole kit... but i do not need a whole kit as to my motor is in pretty good shape as long as it doesnt blow and screw up the housings and such....

what would/have you done in my situation

thanks

christopher

Hmmz, seals are the first thing I would change, simply because you can't use them twice (you can, but not if they're for a long time in your engine)

Gaskets for the Intake and water pump and some other stuff..

Then new springs and oil seals ...

Apexes are sometimes not neccesary, but when your engine has a lot of miles on it and the compression is getting low, the apexes have usually much wear and need to be replaced...

The bearings.. this varies from engine to engine, I would first disassemble the engine and then check what you need...

sorry i did not post mileage... the car has 113k miles on it now and will prolly have 115k on it by the time i do this... i was hoping to just get a parts list together because its my only engine and i wanted to have the parts ordered but if i must pull it apart i guess it just means more down time.. thanks for the reply

Hi cwsttu,

Here's the list I would shoot for:

Rotary Aviation Basic 86-91 kit

Atkins Rotary 2mm solid corner seals, oil pump chain, FC gear and rotor bearings, as well as an oil control ring spring kit.

Racing Beat 80-85psi oil pressure regulator.

Looking at around $850 or so for parts. Save up and do it right.

By the way, if you want the porting work done, I can do it for you. I'm over in the Dallas area not too far from you; toss me a PM if you're interested.
