agreed on the port timing..

although one of the criterias for porting is to smooth out casting flaws

so if this one aspect is dismissed...wouldnt there be cause for concern on the rest of the work...

I just went back to the pic, tolook a little closer, and i see a roughness around the top edge on the right side. but deeper into the runner is too dark to see.

I just saw ito's porting on the second page, looks good, but anyone can spend hours making ports super smooth and shiny to proove that they do a better job of making it look better, question is,does it make the power from the port timing being correct for the application.cause rob builds per cutomer specs,or what the customer thinks they want.i've known rob since he started his buisness in portland and have always seen top notch products,or i wold have gooten out of Mazdas a long time ago.
This is not a Judge Ito vs Rob at pineapple porting thread. I actually know and have done business with Rob Golden and think he is a great person and I consider him a true rotary engine brother. At my shop I only do the porting for that reason, so I could control how an engine is being ported on a consistent level. I could only wonder that something like this might have been overlooked by Rob because he is probably Extremely busy with work.

When You say I spend hours making my ports look shiny to make them look pretty your a little off. I don't spend hours giving my ports the final details in work to make them look pretty, I spend time because through out my years of porting I have come to learn what works and what doesn't. From customers engine making serious power at low boost and customers engines making serious power at high boost. (15lbs of boost on a street port 459rwhp to 701rwhp street ported engine on 36lbs of boost with a nitrous shot in top of that boost on stock 2mm apex seal) I through the apex seals that I use just to keep convincing people how well stock 2mm seals work. From bridgeported to P-port from wild to mild, you name it I've done it. I seriously ported a 20B 3 rotor engine that we expect over 1200rwhp I'll keep everybody posted.

To close my comment I just think this was something that was overlooked, because Rob is an excellent engine builder and porting expert. Just my 2 cents.

I see a common mistake made in those ported intake housings. I see race shops etc do it over and over.

hmmm.. are you refering to the port being polished too smooth and the fact that it will cause fuel to form in droplets called pooling and cause poor atimization ... ? Or are you one of those people that thinks you need to cut out the lower and upper curved corners of the runner right next to the port opening?
