Sweet, what is the size of the Bridge? What grit paper you use to polish the bearings?



I am putting together my Half-Bp together this week too, I hate side seals

3 Questions???



1)Does the excess hylomar casue any problems in the coolant passeges or inside the rotor housing. Or do you clean it up before you put on the housing?



2) I noticed you dont use a "sealant" for the legs. Have you ever had any leaking with the hylomar instead of silicone?



3) Why does everyone poish their bearings? There will be little to no oil on them at startup compared to one with 400-600 grit 60deg crosshatch and shiny surfaces do not reatain oil. Just wondering the logic on this one???

One more question. I dont notice very much angle on the BP. Could just be the pics but it looks like its 90 deg. If it is 90 deg have you ever thought of drilling in at an angle and then porting. I would just think it would flow better that way? Your thoughts???

Engine looks awesome.







Bearings are polished to slightly increase clearence, and to reduce friction in the oil as it flows through the bearing.

 

You can increase clearance just the same with emery cloth. What about startup. Polished means less oil on the bearings and e-shaft at startup. I just cant see this ever being worth it when weighed against the negatives.



I dont know if it just my pistion experience or what but I think polished oil bearing/surface mod is wack. Am I the only one????



Do a little experiment. Take a polished bearing/e-shaft and one that is honed to a fine ra. Then put a drop of oil on each surface. Come back in an hour. You will never polish again.



Take it or leave it.
