Oil Control Seal Springs

My Oil Control Seal Springs are (2) large, (2) small silver and (2) large, (2) small copper color... I see no paint marks to determin what spring goes on the front and rear of the rotor. Any clue based on the metal color?

I never see them with color in them. In the Mazda, Haynes, and Chilton's manuals, there are diagrams to show the proper orientation.
If you don't have any of those, just remember that the reason the springs are handed is so that they prevent the seal from rotating in relation to the rotor. With that in mind, you should be able to figure it out.

The springs are "Handed". Or in other words there are front side and back side springs. The springs have a sharp square ends and rounded nose ends.
In the grooves in the rotors have a shallow hole machined in place. The seal rings have notches in the spring side.
As the rotor turns in the direction of operation, the drag of the seal on the iron is turning the seal ring backwards,
(in the opposite direction) so if left to turn during operation for long, the "O" ring wears out and the engine starts to smoke. Bad Mojo.
So mark each side of each rotor with Black majic marker arrows to show normal rotation. So the seal is trying to back up in the opposite rotation from your arrows.
Drop in a spring and turn the seal backwards. The correct spring will lock up the seal and prevent it from turning once
the nose and tail of the spring find there correct holes and notches. The wrong spring will not prevent the seal from turning.
You might as well learn this layout, and be able to stack up front and rear springs in two piles. There are no color dots left behind on used springs to help you.
