if I bought a car with one, could I take it apart to inspect everything meself, and if everything is good not have to spend any money? Or would I still have to replace gaskets and seals?

Thanks

How newly rebuilt was the engine and who did the job. Sounds like alot of work just to check on everything. And If you took the time to check everything out most likely you are going to find something you dont like and replace it. But thats I guess is just to suit your taste....

you'll need to replace the gaskets at least, including the O rings.

I would just do a compression test, coolant system pressure test, and confirm oil pressure with a reliable gauge, if everything checks out, everything checks out.. no point in tearing it apart.
