Hey guys,

I'm going to be making my own templates, and I was just wondering how far the standard RB or Mazdatrix templates open up the top of the ports. I just want a mild/ medium port job.

Thanks, Matt

Just curious...why does everyone want to re-invent the wheel or save $50 trying to eyeball something that is not only crucial to performance but could potentially ruin cubic dollars worth of parts if it's not right? And why would someone that's spent the money give out the info you're looking for? Sorry, but it makes no sense to me.

I'm trying to save $100 with shipping because i'm a broke university student with dreams of speed. Its not difficult to design your own port as long as you watch oil seal track and corner seal track. Besides the actual port shape only accounts for a very minimal part of the entire port. and i'm not asking for someone to scan the port and send it to me, i'm just wondering how far it gets extended toward the top of the port. because i've heard the RB template is fairly conservitive and thats all i'm looking for as a guideline. Were on the same team buddy, the rotary team, relax a bit.

Matigi:

Your arguement is shoting yourself in the foot. IF you are on a budget, then a template from Judge ITO or another builder is $$$$ well spent, they have already expended the time, money and effort to come up with a PROVEN port. How are you going to baseline your results on a budget?

Do some time researching this forum, the info is there. There is a difference between help and a hand out.

If you want something mild you can easily make your own.

Use plexi to make templates of the stock ports.

Use a caliper to measure up 2.5mm on the secondarys and 1mm up on the primarys.

Basically just extend the top of the port from the opening side to the oil control o-ring grove.

Make sure when your using the plexi you note the temp as it changes quite a bit.

There, I just saved you $100. Shouldnt I get a kickback or somethin

RB will send you a triangular port template which you then need to use on both primary and secundary ports. However on one of them you need to be carefull becuase the porting template is too large for the port and you will break the waterline.

Mazdatrix will send you a square template with specific templates for primary and secundary ports preventing you from going through that waterline.

That would beasically be the difference between them.

I ordered the RB but now have sold it for the Mazdatrix one, just because of that. Me being a noob at porting and not wanting to destroy my plates just now.
